Stephen King's The Long Walk Cast Includes Mark Hamill, Judy Greer and More

The movie adaptation of the Stephen King novel, The Long Walk, has confirmed its principal cast. Mark Hamill, aka Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars universe, and Judy Greer, who we’ve seen in films like 2018’s Halloween, are two of the latest additions to actors from Alien: Romulus and 2025’s Karate Kid movie.

According to Deadline, joining Hamill and Greer in the latest adaptation of a King story are David Jonsson (Rye Lane, Alien: Romulus), Cooper Hoffman (Licorice Pizza, Wildcat), Charlie Plummer (The Clovehitch Killer, Spontaneous, All the Money in the World), Roman Griffin Davis (Jojo Rabbit), Ben Wang (Sight, 2025’s Karate Kid), Garrett Wareing (Manifest), and Tut Nyuot (The Witcher: Blood Origin).

The Long Walk is a 1979 novel by Stephen King, which the author published under his pseudonym, Richard Bachman. The big-screen adaptation of the novel went through several hands before falling deep down into development hell. Filmmakers like George A. Romero, Frank Darabont, and André Øvredal were at some point attached to the project, but their attempts to bring the story to screen all failed. Then, in November 2023, it was confirmed that Francis Lawrence would direct the film based on a script by JT Mollner. Lawrence’s credits include several films in The Hunger Games franchise, I Am Legend and Constantine.

The Long Walk is One of Several Upcoming Stephen King Adaptations

Stephen King's The Long Walk Is Happening at New Line (1)

Master of horror Stephen King is more prolific than ever, keeping the pace he once had before his life-changing accident back in 1999. This, of course, draws the attention of studios who want to capitalize on his name and keep adapting his work, regardless if the book is old or new. In recent years, audiences have been treated to a wave of King adaptations like The Boogeyman, Pet Sematary, It, and Doctor Sleep, and that is set to continue with several more upcoming releases.

The Long Walk is (finally) coming, but true King fans remain skeptical until they can see an image, poster, or trailer. In the meantime, there are plenty of other King movies to give everyone sleepless nights. This includes Osgood Perkins-directed The Monkey and It prequel series Welcome to Derry from Andy and Barbara Muschietti, which comes to Max in 2025. Later this year, Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck is set to premiere at TIFF in September, and the completed but in limbo new take on Salem’s Lot is also expected to finally be released sometime before the end of the year.
