Deadpool & Wolverine First Reactions Arrive; Is This What the MCU Needs or Another Marvel Let-Down?

Deadpool & Wolverine's Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman Tease Avengers Secret Wars and MCU Futures

The first reactions to what can only be described as one of the most highly anticipated and hotly hyped movies in the MCU, Deadpool & Wolverine, are now in. So, does putting two of the most beloved characters in comics together create the spark that will reignite the franchise? Or is Ryan Reynolds let too far off the leash, resulting in an unending bombardment of jokes that not even the crudest 12-year-old would enjoy?

Thankfully, it sounds very much like the former, with one lucky audience member saying it “feels damn great to see Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine” and heaping praise on the humor and, believe it or not, the heart.

“DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE is the shot in the arm the MCU so desperately needed. Vulgar, violent, scathing, and at times, even touching, this R-rated romp holds nothing back delivering on everything its fans want with maximum effort. It even manages to pay respect to the Fox era’s legacy while ushering in a new one for Marvel.”

Another reaction echoes these sentiments, calling Deadpool & Wolverine a “true crowdpleaser” and hyping up the fun and the use of characters from both the Marvel and Fox universes.

“The reports of the MCU’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. It’s a true crowdpleaser and very fun. This will make all the money. Also, this being a giant love letter to the Fox Marvel era was not on my bingo card.”

The Next Era of the MCU Is Revealed & It’s Sure to Have Marvel Fans Freaking Out

The Marvel boss has revealed what the next era of the MCU will be when The Multiverse Saga ends…

Deadpool & Wolverine is an insane, bombastic Marvel wet dream. Plenty of surprises but with epic action, excessive violence, and relentless humor (most of which landed for me),” says another early reaction, with further responses finding a surprising amount of depth in the MCU outing, “DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE is Marvel’s PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES. What does that mean? It means it’s both wildly hilarious and genuinely (and heartbreakingly) meaningful. Top 10 Marvel — not because of its cameos, because of its heart. This movie doesn’t just exist — it MATTERS.”

Not Everyone Was as Taken With the Deadpool & Wolverine Adventure

Sadly, there were some who found little to enjoy in the Deadpool and Wolverine adventure. “The comedy is strong, but everything else? …I thought this film was a complete misfire & I need to lie down because of that,” says one of the more critical reactions. However, while another felt that the movie “almost lost me a few times, some of the humor runs dry quick and the villain plot is thin,” they were surprised “that this movie, out of the whole Multiverse Saga, is the one that actually has something *interesting* to say about legacy characters. Hugh kills it.”

Overall, it sounds like Deadpool & Wolverine will have plenty to offer Marvel fans, and especially those who have longed to see the two characters share the screen properly (we don’t count X-Men Origins: Wolverine). Just remember to have fun.

“This is the ultimate Deadpool movie. It is the ultimate Wolverine movie. It’s a damn good time and the best of the three Deadpool movies, for sure. Have fun!”
